The RSA (Returned Services Association) Organisation exists today as a
Memoriam to the committed servicemen and women who fought in service for
their country. Predominantly these people represented New Zealand in WW1
and WW11.
Rotorua RSA was established in 1917 and was located on the corner of
Haupapa and Hinemaru Streets. It shifted to its current site to
accommodate its increasing membership, and in 1967 the rooms were
rebuilt on the Haupapa site to provide facilities. Again in 2000 the RSA
had a major upgrade to what it is today.
Its core existence today must reflect its current member's needs and
activities whilst acknowledging its origins as a tribute to the past
"Returned Servicemen and Women"
This RSA will always respect past traditions such as the ode to its
members which is observed Thursday and Friday nights at 6.00pm and
Saturday night at 9.00pm.
ODE
They shall grow not old
as we that are left grow old,
age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn
at the going down of the sun,
and in the morning
we will remember them |
