The RSA
Museum was established in 1968 by members of the Gallipoli Veterans
Association. Over the past 39 years it has grown to such an extent it is
now a fully registered military museum, the only one of its kind in New
Zealand.
It is
organised and run by a curator - currently Mr Alan Bines who is
available to conduct tours for school groups and other visitors and to
answer any queries that you may have. Please note the organised
groups including schools must make prior arrangements for such tours.
The
display covers most wars and services and displays are made up from
items donated to the Museum. We especially welcome school parties as it
allows them to learn a little of the sacrifices made by many New Zealand
people during the many conflicts that servicemen and women have been
involved in.
Bookings can be made on 07-348 1055 during normal office hours.
All
memorabilia displayed has been kindly donated by members, next of kin of
deceased member and visitors. We are always grateful to receive any
memorabilia from all wars to add to our museum. If you have any item
that you think maybe suitable for our displays, please contact the
Curator direct 07-348 5130 a/hrs. |
